Ahhh Amanda & her daddy, last year they went on the 4th year hike together. They both said it was the best time together they have had in a long time. Nothing like nature to bring a daddy & daughter together.
This is Amanda, Cheyanne, & Lauren. They were big sisters this year together for the 1st years. Those little girls loved them, and these big girls loved them right back. Such a great experience for both, to serve & love them was the highlight of the week for the big sisters.

Amanda was teaching the girls how to play RACKO, she wasn't showing alot of patience, hence the antlers behind her head... :)This is some of her 1st years, and also some big sisters. 
These are the 4th year leaders, Kevin, Lynette, Liz, Dana, Bill & Michelle. They are super troopers. The hike is no small feet, their packs are super heavy & they go for 4 days out of camp. They hike to 4 different lakes, and man do they hike. They hiked 30 miles round trip in 4 days. WAY TO GO YOU HIKING STUDS!!!
Our church does a Girls Camp every year. The girls start at age 12 and they go for 5 years total. You start off as a 1st year, then 2nd year, then 3rd year, then 4th year, then Big Sister, then High Adventure. High Adventure is like a cherry on top, this is the big one & what every level girl hopes to reach. These girls & their leaders go on this amazing adventure all week long. They actually don't even get to camp until Fri. bc they are out & about doing all sorts of awesome things. This year they went white water rafting, hiked Half Dome, went repelling, went zip lining, and on this crazy bike hike, they had a blast. Kevin & Amanda will do this next year & they both can hardly wait. Each year the hikes get harder & longer. As a Big Sister you are assigned a level to serve with. Which ever level you go with you you do all their activities with , including the hike. You get to really know & serve the girls you are with, it is an amazing experience. Then we also have adult leaders for every level, and also many many many other adults that serve at camp. We have an awesome craft group that always has a ton of really cool things to do. Then we have the quilters, these ladies are amazing they quilt their tales off all week. The girls & leaders are required to do at least 30 stitches to get their bead & also be eligable to win a quilt ( over your time at camp through the years everyone gets a quilt). Speaking of beads, everything you do at camp gets you a bead. We all wear these things called lanyards & as you go through your years are camp your lanyard gets filled with various beads from throughout your years at camp. We have a saying at camp, "It's all about the beads baby!!" Then we have the cooks, man these poeple are AWESOME, we eat like royalty at camp, I am not kidding the food is out of this world. You are NEVER hungry at camp ever. Then we always have a service/humantarian project that the girls work on as well. This year we were making hats for the babies in the NICU & other special nurseries. It was fun to be able to work on those adorable little hats. This year we made over 60 during the week. We also make several service quilts that will go to various charities & special areas. We also have a working post office, that you can write letters home, and also to anyone at camp. It's a treat to go check your mail slot to see if anyone wrote you a letter. We have a really fun waterfront area, and lots of water activities throughout the week. We also have "Twinkle Toes" spa that the adult sister leaders offer for the hikers when they get back from their hikes. They love it, and I am sure look forward to it on the way back in. Each night we have a camp fire that is always filled with a very entertaining variety of shows/activities. The Big Sisters are in charge of camp fire & it ends with a beautiful lullaby & we all hold hands in a circle to sing "Walk Tall Your A Daugther Of God", always leaves you teary eyed. Then each group goes off for a devotional & the adult leaders have one too. Then the adult leaders walk from level to level & sing them one last good night song before bed. It's such a great way to end the night. Camp is then followed by a camp fireside the Sunday after we return. It is so great to feel the wonderful spirit that camp brings. I know that all of us can't wait until next year's camp, bc we know just how wonderful it really is.

Wow, that brought back some memories! I remember Rucker lake! That is so awesome that Kevin is going on all these hikes with his daughters...I remember my dad doing that with us and it just made it all that much more special! I will never forget those memories...
And the Spirit really is so strong there...man, I miss those days! How fun! I am so glad your family had such a great week there!! :)
I am so flashing back to our days at girls camp. Is it just me or did it seem like there were no showers *every* year we went? Looks like you had tons of fun!
Thanks for the flashback, Mare! I love the picture of Amanda and Kevin. Reminds me of the camp pics I have of Mandy and Bill. Great treasures that our girls will always remember.
